Emotions overflowed at the audio launch function of Ponnar Sankar. Releasing the audio, Tamilnadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Sunday said ''nobody can separate me from cinema''.

Ponnar Sankar is a film based on a script penned by him, starring Prashanth in dual roles. Produced by Lakshmi Shanthi Movies, it is directed by Thiyagarajan. While the DMK president released the first copy of the audio album, set to tunes by Isaignani Ilayaraja, it was received by noted industrialist Pollachi N Mahalingam.

In his address, Karunanidhi recalled that he penned Ponnar Sankar novel after hearing the story of two brave brothers from others. 'I avoid attending functions related to the film industry of late due to the criticism that I have been giving more importance to cinema.'

On his part, Thiyagarajan said, 'I am thankful to Karunanidhi for giving us the permission to do his novel as a movie. We have done our best and ensured all came out well'

Those who had attended the audio launch were Union Minister D Napoleon, Ilayaraja, Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan, lyricist Vairamuthu and Tamil scholars Va Se Kuzhandhaisami and Silamboli Chellappan.
