Actress Sujatha passed away

Veteran actress Sujatha, who made her mark playing versatile role for over three decades in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi movies, passed away at her residence in Chennai today. She was 58.


Sujatha was not well for some days and she was not accepting any offers to act. Sujatha made her mark doing geroine to Kamal Haasan, Rajnikanth, Shiva Kumar, Sivaji Ganesan. Some of her popular films include Annaikali, Avargal, Vidhi and Andhaman Kadali.


Sujatha had been suffering from chronic kidney disease for a long time. Both her kidneys had failed and she was undergoing dialysis at the Global Hospitals for a long time. She was being treated by senior nephrologist Dr Chandrasekar.



'Normally she used to come for dialysis every three days. She was supposed to come for dialysis yesterday. She did not turn up. We were expecting her today, when we heard the news that she breathed her last at her residence at around 2 pm ', hospital sources said.


Since Sujatha had been on dialysis for a long time, the potassium level in blood would have gone up, resulting in a sudden cardiac arrest, the sources said.
