Big films to rain in August

For the next three weeks or so, there will be no major releases in Malayalam, due to the Ramzan fasting period. The reason is the poor turnout at the theatres especially in northern Kerala.

The Ramzan season begins on Aug 8. Along with the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express, Dulquer Salmaan will try his luck at the box office with Neelakasham Pachakkadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, directed by Sameer Thahir on that day.

Tamil superstar Vijay's Thalaivaa will hit the screens on Aug 9. Prithviraj will be ready with his Memories (directed by Jeethu Joseph) and Kunchacko Boban will join the battle with Pullippulikalum Aattinkuttiyum, directed by Lal Jose, on the same day.

Ranjith's Kadal Kadannoru Mathukkutty, releasing on Aug 15, will test Mammootty's box office credentials. Soon to follow on Aug 16 is Blessy's controversial film, Kalimannu.

There are two releases on Aug 23. Dileep's Nadodi Mannan, directed by Viji Thampy and the Fahadh Faasil starrer Olipporu, directed by A V Sasidharan.

Kunjananthante Kada, directed by Salim Ahmad and starring Mammootty, will be released on Aug 30.

As it happens in Malayalam so often these days, the schedules can change. There can be changes in the release dates and new films can replace the already announced ones.
