The election and the Indian Premier League (IPL) seems to play spoilsport in the prospects of few movies in Kollywood. Many films chose to have a release in April fearing ICC World Cup. But the announcement that 13 April, Tamilnadu will go for general elections came as a shock to them. Whatmore with India winning the World Cup, there is a sudden craze to watch IPL matches.
As a result many movies are opting a delayed release. Among them is Vaanam. A remake of a Telugu hit Vedham, it stars Silambarasan, Bharath, Prakashraj, Anushka and Sonia Agarwal. Directed by Krish, it has music by Yuvanshankar Raja.
Silambarasan plays a cable operator in the movie that has five stories meeting at one point. Sources say, 'the decision to postpone the release was taken considering the IPL and Assembly elections. Hopefully Vaanam will see the screens on 7 May'.
Says Krish, ' it is an interesting and entertaining movie. With Simbhu at the helm of affiars, the movie has come excellent. It would be a real Summer treat for audience'
