Kollywood to overcome World Cup fever

With World Cup finally coming to close, it is party time in Kollywood. Not just that India won but also the producers can come forward and release a host of movies that are lying in cans for some time. Fearing lukewarm response since India was progressing well in the coveted tournament, they chose to wait and watch.

Now with the premier cricket tournament over and IPL may start next week but would pick up momentum only during knock out stage, there are a hos of movies ready for release.

Many in the industry say over 26 films released during World Cup of which just a few managed to make some profits. With people preferring to stay indoors to watch the matches coupled with annual examination for students, the response was indeed poor in theatres.

Finally with World Cup over and election is just a one-day fiesta and IPL may get busy only during knock-out stages and that too they are just T20 matches, host of movies are ready to run the race.

The most awaited movies of the month are Mappillai, Ko, Ponnar-Shankar, Azhagarsamiyin, Kuthirai, Kandaen, Engeyum Kadhal, Vaanam, 180, Avan Ivan and Deiva Thirumagan.

Mappillai stars Dhanush, Ko is a thriller by K V Anand, Ponnar - Shankar is Prashanth's comeback movie, Suseenthiran's Azagarsamiyin Kuthirai is a comical riot, Prabhu deva's Engeyum Kadhal, Bala much-hyped Arya - Vishal starrer Avan Ivan are pinning lots of hopes.

This sumer vaccation we have good entertainment. We can go theatres to watch the movies of our favourite heroes and also catch the IPL actions live. It is a party time, say audience.

Also the good news is that Kamal Haasan will kick start his project Viswaroopam and Rajnikanth will shot for Raana.

The carnival time is back. We are extremely thrilled, say theatre-owners. It means audience would be back after almost two months to watch the movies, they opine.

Get, set, go theatres this summer!
