When Sivaji Rao Gaekwad became Rajini

Say Sivaji Rao Gaekwad, the eyes of every Tamilian will lit up. Cos it is the original name of none other than our very own Super Star Rajinikanth. It was veteran filmmaker and Rajinikanth's mentor K Balachander, who rechristened him as Rajinikanth when he first made his debut in Aboorva Raagangal.

From thereon, there was no looking back for Rajinikanth. He went on to become the numero uno star of India.

It's almost three decades since he became Rajinikanth. But still he is dominating the industry. As a token of gratitude, Rajinikanth chose to celebrate the day he was named Rajinikanth by K Balachander with his friends and family. It was on 19 March that the event happened. Hence this year, Rajinikanth organised a small function at his house and ensured that his kith and kin and friends from the film industry attended a small get-together.

Those who had attended the party include Mani Ratnam, Vaali, Vairamuthu, S A Chandrasekar, Panchu Arunachalam, T M Soundararajan, Mahendran, KRG, Deva, P Vasu and Shankar Ganesh.

Rajini shared with them the journey that he has made so far in tinsel town and relived his past moments and all were at ease.
